The Evil Eye is a podcast about goth movies. What exactly is a goth movie? Film writers Samm Deighan and Robert Skvarla are two old goths determined to answer that age old question by exploring various genres including horror, melodrama, and film noir. Each episode will dissect a film that fits the goth aesthetic and explore the music and culture in the year that film was released.
In this episode, Rob and Samm have gone to Texas with the 1987 vampire cowboy epic Near Dark. A milquetoast good ol’ boy rolls into town in his pickup and meets the girl of his dreams. Unfortunately for him, she’s a vampire. She turns him and he gets abducted by her merry band of vampire outlaws. They raise hell, as only a group led by Lance Henriksen could, until they end up on the wrong side of the law. Shoot outs, bloodshed, and exploding vampires ensue. But the real question is… are these vampire cowboys goth? Listen in to find out!
