The Evil Eye is a podcast about goth movies. What exactly is a goth movie? Film writers Samm Deighan and Robert Skvarla are two old goths determined to answer that age old question by exploring various genres including horror, melodrama, and film noir. Each episode will dissect a film that fits the goth aesthetic and explore the music and culture in the year that film was released.
It’s not October anymore, but that doesn’t mean we’re not still defiantly celebrating Pricetober! We’re wrapping things up with an exploration of two of the final Vincent Price classics, Theatre of Blood (1973) and Madhouse (1974). Shot on location in England, as co-productions with American International Pictures, these films allow us to talk about everything from British horror in the ’70s to Shakespeare, serial killers, the heyday of AIP, and more goth nonsense.
MUSIC CLIPS:
Leonard Cohen – “Who By Fire” (off New Skin for the Old Ceremony)
Kingdom Come – “Conception” (off Journey)
Vincent Price – “The Monster Mash” (from The Monster Club)
