NEW EPISODE OF CINEPUNX COMING IN HOT AND FULL OF VINEGAR! Hey friends, and welcome to this kind of sports focused episode of CINEPUNX! On this athletics episode we will be discussing two films ostensibly telling the same story, and explore the ways they compliment or fail each other: NEXT GOAL WINS 2014 & 2023 ! The documentary from 2014 and the recent dramatization directed by Taika Waititi both strive to tell the story of the American Samoa FIFA team who had no scored a single goal in official game play for 18 years, and how their 2013 season changed all of that. It is a beautiful, diverse, and emotional story but do both formats serve that story well? You will have to listen to find out!

We definitely had some mixed feelings on these two properties and we are, I think, very honest about what we loved and what we found frustrating about the ways this story gets told. We also do our usual wack and on track gimmicks, and this episode features an intro song from the new films soundtrack as well as a song from the new KATARSI Lp which we highly recommend picking up.
