HELLO FRIENDS AND WELCOME TO A VERY SPECIAL EPISODE OF CINEPUNX! Any long time listeners know that for some years Josh has been atttending a festival at the Dryden Theatre in the George Eastman Museum in Rochester NY called The Nitrate Picture Show!

For this episode Josh decided to invite three friends he met at the festival to come on the show so they could have a conversation about the history of the fest, this year’s line up, and just the experience of being a patron of the festival! We are so glad to have had Kristen, Rachel, and Emily on the show! I only met them virtually for this recording but they were fun and interesting conversation partners who jumped into the conversation and immediately had both insight and humor to share. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did having it!

For those of you who are not aware, we cover what Nitrate IS in depth on the episode but basically it is a kind of film that provides an incredible image but fell out of usage because it is so flammable. This festival began primarily as an event focused on the idea of preservation and showing films in service of the idea of exhibiting preserved items, but it has evolved to also take into account the content of these preserved artifacts while still taking seriously the work and even art of preservation. If you would like more info on the past programs of the fest you can click here!

Thanks for listening, please consider checking out the NITRATE PICTURE SHOW and supporting the work of the George Eastman Museum, and of course a huge huge thanks you to Kristen Squire, Rachel Bauer, and Emily Freitag for joining us on the show and sharing their insights with all of us!

You already know this but just a reminder that we appreciate you so so much!

Thanks for listening, spend some time checking out our Patreon, and of course check out the family of shows available at Cinepunx.com.
