Cinema Smorgasbord – The Cinema Smorgasbord Holiday Special – Switch (2023) & R.M.N. (2022)

It’s the Cinema Smorgasbord HOLIDAY SPECIAL and as usual we’re heading (virtually) to the Weihnachtsfilmfestival in Berlin, Germany to check out TWO films that played at their 2023 edition. We start with the sweet Korean fantasy comedy SWITCH from 2023, about a superstar actor who learns a few lessons in love and humility after having his life switched with that of his lowly assistant. Then we finish off with Cristian Mungiu’s devastating Romanian drama R.M.N., about the xenophobic fallout when some Sri Lankan workers are hired at a Transylvanian bread company. It’s a very special episode so why not send the kids to bed and listen?

The Carnage Report Episode 45: It’s a Wonderful Knife

Plus, the pair recommend you go watch some timey-wimey weirdness and discuss trailers galore for Destroy All Neighbors, Founder’s Day, Handling the Undead, and more. Plus, Julie and Nick talk the choices which would’ve changed their lives.

Cinema Smorgasbord – The Cinema Smorgasbord Holiday Special – Feast of the Seven Fishes (2019) & Scream For Christmas (2000)

It’s the 150th episode(!) of Cinema Smorgasbord, and we’re celebrating the end of 2022 with a HOLIDAY SPECIAL! And what better way to say goodbye to another banner year than with two relatively-seasonal, shockingly different movie picks? We start with the coming-of-age comic strip adaptation FEAST OF THE SEVEN FISHES  (aka A HOLIDAY FEAST) (starring Skyler Gisondo, Joe Pantoliano, Addison Timlin and Madison Iseman) and move right into the microbudget horror comedy(?) SCREAM FOR CHRISTMAS (starring nobody you’ve heard of). We also discuss some of our favorite holiday-themed films, discuss our hopes for 2023 and SO MUCH MORE. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
